Reporting a Personal Insurance Claim

If you are a personal (individual or family policy) client Contact us in person during business hours; Monday-Friday 9:00 to 5:00 or by phone at 508-673-5808.

If you have a policy with Commerce, you can report your claim by telephone.
Call anytime at (800) 221-1605.

If you have your policy handy, give the policy number when you call. You can still call in your claim anytime without your policy number. Have the information regarding your claim handy when you call. Please keep in mind the four major steps of the claim process:

  • Reporting - Providing us with full detailed information about your loss
  • Appraisal - Allowing a company representative to appraise the damage and estimate the value of the loss. In some circumstances this step can be waived for smaller claims.
  • Payment - A claim adjuster will review your claim to determine how coverage applies to your loss, and the amount of payment. You will be paid directly in most circumstances unless you authorize payment to some third party.
  • Repairs - You have many options for repairing your damaged property or vehicle. We can provide a list of preferred contractors and auto-body shops. In general, deciding who does the repairs is your responsibility.
You are always authorized to take steps necessary to secure your property from further loss. You do not need our permission to move damaged property, make temporary repairs when necessary, or reduce dangerous conditions.
